NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2019  

Now the colder weather is setting in we have stopped salads and homemade chunky soup will be on the menu.

We also welcome 6 charterhouse Students every Thursday helping us and joining in with activities, they will be with us until March next year.

 Don’t forget we have Bacon Rolls for sale for £1 and Toasted sandwiches Cheese/Ham with Tomato or onion for £1.50 between 9am-11am. If you require us to make a birthday cake for you the kitchen will need a weeks’ notice.

Please chat with Deborah & Nikki if there is anything you are unable to eat and they will do their best to find an alternative for you. Please make sure you order the correct meal when you arrive as Deborah and Nikki will be unable to change this when they are serving lunch, also when you phone & order a lunch please can you specify what lunch you require if it is the one on the menu or the alternative to save any confusion.  Remember lunch must be booked by 11.00am.  We also have a nice range of homemade cakes, biscuits, plus sweets and chocolate treats. Please note only Day Centre Drinks can be consumed here, we cannot have people bringing in their own drinks. If there is a drink (non-alcoholic) that you would like to see on the servery please let us know, please do not bring in drinks and ask us to keep behind the Servery, we do have a nice range of cold drinks, hot drinks (Tea, Coffee, Cappuchinos,Horlicks, Bovril,Hot Chocolate and cartons of juice and water. We have put survey forms on all tables, please fill them in and place in plastic sleeve by the white board in the dining room, we cannot improve if we don’t have your comments.  PLEASE NOTE THE SERVERY WILL BE CLOSED 12-1PM EVERY DAY. We will NOT be storing any items in the fridge or freezer that have been purchased from the shops as we have had a number of issues that have arisen so please be mindful of this when purchasing your goods.

Please also be mindful on how many shopping bags you take home on the bus as we are limited for space!

We are now selling a variety of items on our ‘Sales Trolley’, wrapping paper, sellotape, bingo dabbers, birthday cards, tissues, deodorants, combs etc., please let us know if you would like to be able to purchase any other items from here and we will do our best to provide them at a very reasonable price.

We have our entertainment programme for October we have Bingo, Hole in one, chair yoga, and seated Exercise and more.  Please do participate in our entertainment and activities afternoons, it takes a lot of time and effort to organise, plus it is a means of social interaction for everyone, and as they say ‘the more the merrier’.

We have also introduced a craft & art table in the lounge, please spend some time during the day to test your skills ask Louise or Helen for help to pass the morning by.

On Wednesday 6th November we have the Farncombe Day Centre Annual general meeting, after the meeting you are invited to have free Tea and cake, we will have local dignitaries attending and chairperson Bill Hislop will be speaking.

Monday 11th is Rememberance Day, which we will acknowledge with a

minutes silence. On Tuesday 12th November we have an outing to

Keydell (winter woodland) please see separate poster for details.

On Wednesday 13th November we have Belinda here selling jewellery 10am-12pm, time to purchase some Christmas presents.

On Saturday 16th November we have our Christmas Fair 10.30-12.30, we have lots of stalls and we will be running a free minibus that day for people that wish to come. We are also looking for donations for Tombolas,raffles etc, we would greatly appreciate any donations. The Raffle is now displayed and Tickets are 50p per strip so please purchase them for a great cause.

On Tuesday 19th November we have the sight for surrey bus visiting 10am-12pm.

On Tuesday 26th we have an outing to Badshot Lea garden centre please see separate

On Wednesday 27th we have Sassi Gifts visiting 10am-12pm, so more Christmas shopping.

Starting Monday 4th November we will be making Sandwiches to take away , they must be ordered by 11am and they will be Cheese, ham Tuna/mayo and if you want tomato or onion in that will be available and a choice of brown or white bread they will be £1.50.

You can raise money for Farncombe Day centre through www.easyfundraising.org.uk please log on to it and register for the Day centre and every purchase you make through internet shopping you can raise money for us, please think about us when you are Christmas shopping.                         Annette
